CELLO AND PIANO PROGRAMS

American Landscape
A program featuring American composers, with works for cello and piano by Carter, Gershwin, Copland, and Barber.

The Immortal Beloved
- Love Through the Sound of the Cello
A program built around the passion, seduction, longing and despair of Beethoven, Brahms and Shostakovich’s hidden love affairs. Includes a reading of letters from Brahms to Clara Schumann.

A Beethoven Celebration
To commemorate 250 years since the birth of Beethoven, Amit Peled presents a monumental program of all five Beethoven sonatas for cello and piano in tribute to one of Western music’s most influential and timeless composers.

An Embarrassment of Riches
Two rarely programmed sonatas coupled with one of Beethoven’s most beloved works for cello and piano delivers a program filled with romanticism and virtuosity. Featuring sonatas by Cassado, Strauss, and Beethoven.

To Brahms With Love
From the critically acclaimed album of the same name, this program explores two of the most celebrated sonatas in the cello and piano duo repertoire – Sonata no. 1 in e minor, and Sonata no. 2 in F Major.

A Russian Evening
The vast beautiful landscape and bountiful culture of Russia is unveiled through three monumental sonatas for cello and piano (Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich) and a 2015 commission from Lera Auerbach. Originally commissioned by Washington Performing Arts, Auerbach’s “La Suite dels Ocells” was dedicated to Amit Peled.

War and Peace
Works for cello and piano written during war time, including Debussy, Cassado, Shostakovich, and Barber.

The Quarantine Effect
Amit’s personal story of what it meant to be musically muted for more than a year and how his love for music and people has become even greater after the pandemic. Including works by Cassado, Saint-Saëns, and Bach.

Homage to Pablo Casals
After playing the historic Goffriller cello of Pablo Casals personally handed to him by Marta Casals Istomin, Amit Peled offers a recital program celebrating six fulfilling years of performing and recording on that special instrument. The audience will be offered a unique window into the Casals history and legacy through music and stories shared by the performer from the stage. Featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns and others.
